Full moon February 2018

February 2018 has no full moon. This phenomenon is related to the moon's cycle which is apporixmatly 29 days long. A full moon occurs just before midnight on the last day of a month will be followed by another full moon on the 29th day of the following month. February consists of 28 days (except when there is a leap year) and so February might not have a full moon. Instead, both January and March will have two full moons.

The phases of the moon follow something called the Meton cycle, which means that the phases of the moon return on the same calendar date in 19 years. This means that February, every 19 years, does not get a full moon. Last time this occured was 1999 and the next time it will occur is 2037.
